With the practice of Taekwondo, developing the skills, discipline, and

|
White Belt: The beginning, the student has made the commitment to begin their journey in Martial Arts. |
|
|
Orange Belt: The beginner student sees the beauty in the art of Taekwondo. |
|
|
Yellow Belt: The student begins to understand the basics of Taekwondo. |
|
|
Low Green Belt: The student begins to realize their place in martial arts, and now begins to spar. |
|
|
Green Belt: The students technique is developing power. The components of the basic techniques begin to work in unison. |
|
|
Purple Belt: The techniques, forms, and level of sparring become more difficult as the student crosses over to a higher level of Taekwondo. |
|
|
Blue Belt: the student has passed the mid-way point and focuses his/her energy upward toward achieving Black Belt. |
|
|
Brown Belt: The student has mastered the basics and developed deep roots in Taekwondo. |
|
|
Red Belt: the physical skill has been developed but lacks control; therefore, physical and mental discipline must now be achieved. |
|
|
Red/Black: The student must begin a new phase of training: that of being a Black Belt. |
|
|
Black Belt: The student has mastered the nine grades of Taekwondo. The color black is created when all the colors of the light spectrum have been absorbed into an object. The object has "taken control" of the colors and retained them. |
